One of the most impressive and elegant projects we have done at Village Blinds and Shutters was to install shutters for square bay windows throughout a home in Belfast. The customer wanted to add some style and privacy to their windows, which are a common feature in many Victorian and Edwardian-style houses in the city.
Our design consultant talked them through the options and they chose white composite plantation shutters, which are durable and easy to maintain. They were thrilled with the result, as the shutters complemented the soft muted tones in their decor and brought brightness and vibrancy to their rooms.
Finding the Right Shutters for Square Bay Windows
Our customer had a lovely property in Belfast. The customer had a traditional style home with square bay windows that added space and light to their rooms. Square bay windows are windows that have three faces joined at 90-degree angles, creating a box-like shape that protrudes from the wall. They are also known as box bay windows or 90-degree bay windows.
Square bay windows can pose some difficulties when it comes to finding the right shutters for them. Not all shutters are suitable for square bay windows, as they may not fit well, or they may interfere with the window’s operation. The customer wanted shutters that would:
- Fit perfectly on the square bay window and follow its shape
- Provide adequate shading and privacy, as they wanted to reduce glare and heat from the sun
- Be durable and easy to maintain, as they wanted shutters that would last long and look good
- Be easy and convenient to operate, as they wanted shutters that would not be too complicated or cumbersome
Custom-Made White Composite Plantation Shutters from Village Blinds and Shutters
After discussing the customer’s needs and preferences, we suggested white composite plantation shutters as the ideal solution for their square bay windows. Our full height composite plantation shutters are made of composite slats that mimic the look and feel of real wood. They are also very versatile and can be custom-made to fit any window size or shape.
We measured each window meticulously and then individually crafted each shutter by us in our Co Antrim facility, before being carefully installed by our professional fitting team. The customer chose a white colour for their shutters, which matched well with their decor and created a bright and airy feel. We also used T-posts to ensure the shutter panels matched the layout of the window and vertical mullions (uprights)
A Stunning Transformation with Shutters for Square Bay Windows
The customer was ecstatic with the final result. They said that the shutters for square bay windows had transformed their home and made it look more elegant and sophisticated. They also said that the shutters were very functional and practical and that they provided excellent shading and privacy.
They especially loved how the shutters fitted snugly within the window frame, without interfering with the square bay shape or creating gaps with the reveals.
