Our team were invited back to a new build to complete their home window dressing with some Arched Shutters in their entrance hallway. These two beautiful arched windows provided the home with character and natural light but now needed Shutters to match with the other windows we had previously installed Shutters onto.

Unique Hallway Arched windows

Arched windows first appeared in the Roman Empire, in a design created to provide structural stability rather than style. As the Romans began designing larger and more grand buildings, arched windows became a stylish statement piece which has seen somewhat of a modern renaissance after falling in and out of style in various periods.

Arched windows such as these in the hallway are a wonderful feature to have in a home. They provide a pleasing contrast to the square shapes that often dominate homes and also allow natural light into your rooms.

An arched window does provide some limitations, however, as only a select few window dressings can be used. A curtain could be placed over the window, but doing so would mean losing the shaped contrast in your home when the curtain is closed. In some cases, a Shaped Vertical Blind could also be used, but neither makes full use of the irregular shape like an Arched Shutter.

Why Choose Arched Window Shutters?

There are a variety of reasons our customer chose to have Arched Shutters installed in their home. As it was a family home with a young child there was a need for privacy throughout their home, creating a safe space for their child to play and grow.

It is also important that a child’s home becomes darker in the evening, not just their own room, so as to prepare them for sleep. The Sleep Foundation recommends a consistent bedtime routine that involves darkening the home and turning off bright lights in order to help children receive the necessary sleep to support their brain development.

It was important that this home be undisturbed in the evening from lights outside, and that the entire home be a safe space for their child.

A Full Home of Shutters

The hallway Arched Shutters were not the only Shutters this customer had in their home. We had previously provided Tier-on-Tier Plantation Shutters to the rest of their home.

At this point, our customer had already been enjoying shutters in their bedroom and living room, before deciding to finish their windows with lovely Arched Shutters in the hallway. This was a testament to the quality of work which was already provided and our customer’s satisfaction that they chose to return to us when they were ready to install more Shutters in their home.

Our Customer chose Shaped Shutters for their arched windows and Tier-On-Tier for the rest of their home but these are just two of the types of Plantation Shutter we offer. We have a video explaining each type and why you might choose them.

Shutters for a Home Office

In the living room area where we had previously installed Shutters, our customer had a Home Office Space where they worked from. Their desk backed onto a large shallow bay window. This window was fantastic for providing natural light into their main living space but, was not ideal for reading a computer screen and trying to work.

Our Shutters were able to provide some shade for our customer’s computer screen, allowing them to continue to work from home with no issue. They also took advantage of the split in the Shutter doors from being Tier on Tier Style. This meant the top door’s louvres could be opened allowing light into the room, whilst the bottom door’s louvres were closed, allowing our customer to work on their computer.

Arched Shutters Provide a Beautiful Finish

After installing the Arched Shutters in our customer’s hallway, we completed a beautiful finish throughout the home. There were now both Tier-on-Tier and Arched Shutters, providing a stylish and modern window dressing.

Our customer now not only had a stylish finish to their home but also shade and privacy for their family, creating an appealing space to live.

Village Blinds and Shutters Home Appointments FAQ

Our design consultant will arrive at the agreed time slot and ask you questions about your requirements and style preferences to help understand your project. They will measure your windows and discuss fabric/material options and provide you with a quotation based on your choices.

Depending on your requirements, a home appointment can take from 30 minutes for 1-10 blinds, to 60 minutes for 10+ blinds or window shutters. Our design consultant will work at your pace and we’re happy to stay longer to talk through your options and provide advice if you’d like.

We would ask ahead of the home appointment that you have arranged clear access to the window areas being measured and that any obstructing furniture or breakables near the windows are removed.

Once the windows are in, plastering has been completed and any tiling or skirting or architrave that might be close to the blinds has been installed. This will allow our design consultant to take accurate measurements.

Usually, our design consultant will be able to provide you with your quotation during your appointment.  Sometimes for some very bespoke projects pricing can take a little longer. If you haven’t heard back within 24 hours, give them a call or email and they will keep you updated.

Our production team work tirelessly to craft every single blind and shutter for our customers individually. Lead in times can vary depending on factors such as material availability and our production schedule. That being said we will always work to get your order as quickly as possible. Ask your design consultant for an up-to-date lead time estimate.
