Choosing Blinds for Your Buy To Let Property Top 7 Tips – In Northern Ireland

Discover the best blinds for your buy-to-let property. Learn how to choose durable, cost-effective, and stylish blinds that appeal to a wide range of tenants, ensuring your investment stands out.

Choosing the right blinds for your buy-to-let property is crucial for enhancing its appeal, ensuring tenant satisfaction, and maintaining long-term value. Here’s a guide to help you select blinds that combine style, durability, and practicality, making your property more attractive to potential tenants.

1. Consider Your Tenant Demographics

When selecting blinds, think about the type of tenants you aim to attract. Opt for versatile, easy-to-maintain blinds that suit a wide range of preferences:

  • For Families: Blinds that are durable and easy to clean, like faux wood or roller blinds, are ideal for family homes. They can withstand the wear and tear that comes with everyday use.
  • For Professionals: In buy-to-let properties targeting young professionals, consider sleek, modern options like Venetian or Roman blinds. These add a touch of elegance without being overly elaborate.

2. Match Blinds to the Property’s Functionality

Different rooms in a buy-to-let property have varying needs:

Bathrooms and Kitchens:

Choose moisture-resistant blinds, such as faux wood or waterproof roller blinds, to prevent damage in humid environments.

Living Rooms and Bedrooms

Opt for blackout blinds in bedrooms to ensure privacy and comfort. In living areas, blinds that offer light control, like Venetian or roller blinds, work best.

3. Prioritise Durability

While it may be tempting to choose the cheapest option, investing in high-quality blinds can save money over time. Durable blinds require less frequent replacement and offer better performance, making them a cost-effective choice in the long run for your buy-to-let property.

4. Stick to Neutral Colours

Neutral colours like beige, grey, and cream are universally appealing and blend well with most interior designs. These colours also tend to show less dirt and wear, keeping your property looking clean and fresh between tenancies.

5. Ensure Safety and Compliance

For buy-to-let properties, it’s important to choose blinds that meet safety standards. Look for fire-retardant fabrics and consider cordless options to enhance child safety, particularly in family homes.

6. Ease of Maintenance

Tenants appreciate blinds that are easy to clean and maintain. Roller blinds are a great low-maintenance option that can be easily wiped down, ensuring they stay in good condition throughout the tenancy.

Village Blinds and Shutters Home Appointments FAQ

Our design consultant will arrive at the agreed time slot and ask you questions about your requirements and style preferences to help understand your project. They will measure your windows and discuss fabric/material options and provide you with a quotation based on your choices.

Depending on your requirements, a home appointment can take from 30 minutes for 1-10 blinds, to 60 minutes for 10+ blinds or window shutters. Our design consultant will work at your pace and we’re happy to stay longer to talk through your options and provide advice if you’d like.

We would ask ahead of the home appointment that you have arranged clear access to the window areas being measured and that any obstructing furniture or breakables near the windows are removed.

Once the windows are in, plastering has been completed and any tiling or skirting or architrave that might be close to the blinds has been installed. This will allow our design consultant to take accurate measurements.

Usually, our design consultant will be able to provide you with your quotation during your appointment.  Sometimes for some very bespoke projects pricing can take a little longer. If you haven’t heard back within 24 hours, give them a call or email and they will keep you updated.

Our production team work tirelessly to craft every single blind and shutter for our customers individually. Lead in times can vary depending on factors such as material availability and our production schedule. That being said we will always work to get your order as quickly as possible. Ask your design consultant for an up-to-date lead time estimate.
